Stand By Me

18x24
Acrylic and Oil with Glitter
2025
This piece, which took me 8 months to finish, is of one of the best friends I'll ever have. He left this world too soon and too young. He was always my biggest fan, with art and music. I felt the best way to honour him would be to paint him in the light that I remember him. From the likeness of a photo whose origin I was unable to track, Dave can be seen smiling wide, while relaxing on Niagara Trestle at Goldstream Provincial Park. It was a common outing for Dave and I, to hike up to the bridge, across the second bridge, and to the tunnel. A film we grew up watching, Stand By Me, inspired our love for walking the tracks, and crossing the trestle.
This painting placed 2nd in its category at the Saanich Fair.
Prints are available upon request. The original was donated to his family.
